Notes: Kyoya and his guards find a lead on Tamaki's mother's whereabouts. Back in Japan, Haruhi is both puzzled (and a bit angry?) to discover that Tamaki never went on the 2nd year trip to France. Revelations are made as Haruhi informs Tamaki about the twins' fight, how she knows about his home situation regarding his grandmother, etc. Tamaki is sorry to realize how much Haruhi has had to endure while he was "away", and also surprised that she knows about his home circumstances (she found out from Kyoya during the school festival arc). As a result, Tamaki apologizes and says she can ask anything and he will tell her what she wants to know. The two continue to bond and talk as the night progresses, we get a flashback to a younger Tamaki and his mother, and we discover Tamaki's motivations behind the host club. Later that night, in the middle of their goodbyes, Tamaki thanks her for their conversations, as he now has a lot to think about, and she gives him some last-minute snacks. In the middle of her sentence, Tamaki leans down and kisses her on the forehead, thanking her, and she puts a hand over the spot he kissed. Tamaki leaves then, convincing himself that it was okay he did that because he's her "father".

Though his gift to Tamaki is only words, it's perhaps the best gift of all. Meanwhile, Haruhi is starting to feel and act strange around a certain someone, but tries to pass it off as a cold. It's just the beginning of something even bigger.

Notes: It seems like just another day at the Host Club, but one member in particular is acting not like her usual self. After another exhausting day running away from Tamaki, Haruhi is ready to consider that she might not have a cold at all. When Mei comes over for some omelette rice, Haruhi asks her opinion on the matter, naming her symptoms. Mei sees it clearly for what it is, and is about to tell her, but is interrupted by a call from Kaoru. Mei promises not to say anything, but as she leaves, she gives Haruhi a girls' magazine instead. While looking through the articles, Haruhi stops on one in particular: "Girls' Heart Diagnosis: Check!" The next day, Haruhi's "cold" has gotten worse. When she encounters Tamaki, the items in the list from the magazine article are checked off one by one, and it leads to an answer that Haruhi isn't ready to accept.
