Yuzuru Suoh

Yuzuru is the chairman of the Private Ouran Institute and the youthful leader of the Suoh empire. His achievements are winning worldwide fame and his lineage is of royal blood. His hobbies are golf, theater, and teasing his only son, Tamaki. He established the scholarship that Haruhi currently has, and he is aware that she is a girl. Yuzuru took over the head of the Suoh empire when his father died young. He married a woman his mother chose for political reasons. A few years later, he fell madly in love with the daughter of a French aristocrat - Tamaki's mother - while on a business trip to France. The chairman divorced his lawful wife and tried to bring his love and Tamaki to Japan. However, Yuzuru's mother refused to allow it. Now, Yuzuru lives in Japan, separated from his love but trying to get his mother to accept Tamaki as his son.

Originally from France, Tamaki's mother fell in love with Yuzuru while he was on a business trip and became his mistress. She was not allowed to go to Japan with Tamaki - forbidden by Yuzuru's mother. She raised Tamaki in France until he was fourteen. Her family's business failed and they were left with a huge debt. At the same time, Yuzuru's mother was worried about the Suoh family not having an heir. Tamaki's mother was very sickly and without the Suoh's support, she would have died. The grandmother offered her money in exchange for Tamaki coming alone to Japan and never seeing his mother again. Tamaki accepted and his mother let him go with tears. After he left, she went into hiding and no one knows where she is, though Yuzuru may have an inkling.

Tamaki's grandmother is a very strict woman. Though her son is the head of the Suoh family, she is the decision-maker and holds supreme power on the board. When Yuzuru tried to bring his lover and son to Japan, she refused to allow it. It was only until she began worrying about the Suoh family not having an heir that she issued a proposition to Tamaki's mother. She would give Tamaki's mother enough money to pay off her family's debt and stay healthy if Tamaki would come to Japan alone and never see his mother again. Though it was her wish that Tamaki come to Japan, she only allows him to live in Suoh Mansion #2, not the main mansion. She refuses to truly acknowledge him as Yuzuru's son and therefore of Suoh blood. She sees him as the son of a harlot, who deserted her own child. She still holds a grudge against the French woman who seduced her son.
