So far, Kasanoda is the one who has come the closest in confessing to Haruhi.
Krys's Thoughts:
Kasanoda is a misunderstood guy who wants to be able to approach people, but his fierce looks make it hard for him to make friends. Haruhi is not phased by it, and Kasanoda starts to become attracted to her before he even knows that she's a girl. Kasanoda finds out her secret when he accidentally walks in on her changing. However, he vows to keep her secret and after that, he tries to gather up the courage to tell Haruhi how he feels. However, Haruhi only sees him as a friend. She unwittingly interrupts his confession to her, making Kasanoda realize that if he confesses, it would only be troubling her. Being friends would be the best thing.
However, we haven't seen the last of Kasanoda. He shows up again and again in later chapters, becoming a recurring character, but his romantic advances towards Haruhi have stopped, at least for now.
What about the anime?:
Kasanoda and Haruhi share some hilarious moments that parallel the manga. Nothing about their relationship in the anime is all that different. These two become friends, and unfortunately for Kasanoda, nothing more than that.
