Akira is in charge of the Newspaper Club, which, until recently, only served out tabloids. He never printed anything with hard evidence. He fakes an injury when a ball Tamaki kicks crashes through the newspaper club window. He takes the advantage to see if he can discover the Host Club's secret. He believes that Tamaki is being an idiot to cover up the fact that he is really a sly genius exerting his family power to do whatever he wants in Ouran. Akira, however, gets fed up quick with Tamaki's fun activities and is ready to print out an article that would hurt Tamaki and the Host Club. The other host club members, except for Haruhi and Tamaki, figure out Akira's plan and stop him before he can do anything.

Chikage is a part of the newspaper club, and therefore, a lackey of Akira's. He tries to warn Akira about writing an article on Tamaki without proof, but Akira cuts him off.

Tomochika is a part of the newspaper club, and therefore, a lackey of Akira's. He takes the newspaper's photographs.

Misuzu is the owner of a pensione in Karuizawa. He is a flamboyant cross-dresser, who is a friend of Ranka's (Haruhi's father) from work. He doesn't make enough to be able to hire employees yet, so he hired Haruhi because she said she didn't need to be paid much. In much later chapters, it's revealed that he has a daughter.

Arai went to the same middle school as Haruhi. He is bright but shy, rather normal, and is on the soccer team. He used to have a crush on Haruhi. He even confessed to her and asked her out, but she mistook his words for something else. He took the fact that she didn't recognize what he was saying as a sign of rejection. He has since gotten over her (kinda), but he is glad to see and talk to her again. He works at Arai Grocery (his uncle's shop) in Karuizawa as a summer job. He is rather forgiving, since he doesn't let Hikaru's rude behavior phase him.

Kyoya's father is a strict man with traditional values who only expects excellence from his family. He demands the best from his children - three boys and one girl. He seems to hold them at arms' length. There is nothing soft about this man. Now that his daughter is married, he expects her to take care of her new family - she shouldn't be visiting all the time since she now has other obligations. He advocates meritocracy. Though Kyoya is the third son and youngest of his siblings, Kyoya's father still expects only the best and even more than that from him. However, if he has the talent, Kyoya's father wouldn't mind naming him the heir to the family business even though he isn't the first-born son.

The oldest son of the Ohtori family graduated from medical school, and now works at the same hospital as his father in preparation for his succession of the Ohtori Empire. It is unknown if he is aware of Kyoya's own aspirations.

The second son is attending medical school. After graduation, he plans to get his MBA and work alongside his older brother. It is unknown if he is aware of Kyoya's own aspirations.

Yasuchika Haninozuka Yasuchika Haninozuka Yasuchika Haninozuka

Yasuchika is the Karate Club captain, and also part of the Judo Club. He is much more restrained with his emotions than his older brother. He takes his role as a Haninozuka very seriously, and is disciplined about sports and education. He is a perfectionist and hates anything sweet. To distinguish himself from his brother, he wears glasses, which are actually not needed. Yasuchika gets easily worked up over his brother, and is also repulsed by how cute Hunny can act. He thinks it's disgusting, and is so freaked out that sometimes Hunny seems like an alien to him. He wears glasses to avoid losing his cool, but also so that Hunny will appear blurry to him (they're prescription lenses). Despite what he says and how he acts, Yasuchika seems to respect Hunny as a martial artist, and after Hunny praises his growth, he is almost overwhelmed with emotion. When Yasuchika starts to tear up, little birdies appear around him. It only lasts for a quick moment as Yasuchika bats them away and resumes his cool expression.
Yasuchika is loathed to admit it to anyone, especially his older brother, and so hides his love for little fluffy birds. He acts tough and uncaring, but there seems to be more similarities to Hunny than he cares to admit.
